Vlkolinec

Vlkolinec is located in the central part of Slovakia and represents a beautiful testament of original folk architecture, with standing wooden houses, bell tower and mural structures on the church and school.

The small town is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list and consists of 45 buildings that are representatives of the Central European typical traditional village.

Bratislava

Zvolen

Zvolen is a great starting or stopping point wherever your next destination is, as the city is located in the heart of Slovakia.

The Zvolen Castle is definitely worth visiting, as it located on the bank of the Slatina River, which offers a great view over the surrounding area.

The Gothic-Renaissance castle dates back to the 14th century. You can now visit the National Gallery inside the castle and attend the theatre festival which takes place every summer.

If you are up for a walk to the top of the hill in Southern Zvolen, then you can visit the ruins of Pusty Hrad, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe.

Kosice

The second biggest city in Slovakia is full of interesting monuments, beautiful scenery, and great restaurants.

The most imposing monument there is the Gothic St Elizabeth Cathedral, built in the 14th century and still looking marvelous.

Michael’s Chapel and the Urban Tower located nearby complete the Gothic complex so there are quite a few places worth visiting.

Kosice was also the European Capital of Culture in 2013 and the city is still well taken care of, with lots of attractions, cozy restaurants, and nice cafés scattered around the city.

Presov

Presov is located in Eastern Slovakia and comes after Kosice in terms of size. For those of you who are winter sports enthusiasts, taking a trip to one of the highest peaks in the Tatra Mountains is definitely worth it.

There are many ski slopes and ski resorts. You can also climb the mountain during warmer seasons, as there are many hiking trails.

One of the most famous National Parks in Slovakia is located here and it offers you a wonderful experience.

Not only can you relax in unspoiled scenery, but the primeval forests there will sure amaze you.
