Get Your Interrail Portugal Pass

On this page, the terms ‘Interrail Portugal Pass’ or ‘Eurail Portugal Pass’ are used to describe any kind of Interrail or Eurail Pass that would permit you to travel within Portugal. For example:

  • Interrail One Country Pass (Portugal)
  • Interrail Global Pass
  • Eurail One Country Pass (Portugal)
  • Eurail Global Pass

Interrail Portugal Reservation

When it comes to actually purchasing your Pass, you will need to either get an Interrail Portugal Pass (sometimes known as a Portugal One Country Pass), or an Eurail Portugal Pass (sometimes known as a Portugal One Country Eurail Pass). Fortunately, knowing which one to get is very simple.

If you live in Europe permanently (and can prove this with a residence document), or if you are a citizen of a European country, then you need the Interrail Portugal Pass.

If you are neither a European citizen, nor a European resident, then the Eurail Portugal Pass is the one for you.

Follow the links and pick the one you need depending on your plans, and we’ll take you straight to the official vendors to make your purchase. Simple or what?

Interrail Portugal Pass Special Offers

As we are partnered with Eurail and Interrail, both of whom are fully official vendors of Interrail and Eurail Passes, we are privileged to receive word of any special offers or discounts which may be forthcoming ahead of time. But we don’t keep this to ourselves! As soon as we know about a special offer, the price on Interrail-Journey will be updated.

If you’re waiting for the right deal to take the plunge and buy your Interrail Portugal Pass, just drop your name and email into the form below and we will let you know as soon as the special offers go live. Easy!

Eurail Portugal Pass – where to buy

Buying your Interrail or Eurail Portugal Pass from the official vendors that we are partnered with here is always the safest option. Although Interrail Portugal Pass is cheap, you certainly don’t want to get conned out of any money. Remember these two pearls of wisdom if you are ever tempted to get your ticket from a shady third-party:

  • If an offer looks too good to be true, it probably is!
  • Buy cheap, buy twice!

Choose your ticket here and we’ll take you straight to Interrail or Eurail (depending on your circumstances) to make your purchase safely and securely.

If you are only intending to use your Pass to explore Portugal, you will find what you need in the selection featured on this page.

But if you’d like to broaden your horizons even more and explore a few more countries on your Interrail journey, an Eurail Global Pass or Interrail Global Pass would most likely be more adequate for your needs.

Eurail Portugal – Spain Pass

If you are from outside Europe and know that you want to visit Spain as well as Eurail Portugal, then an Eurail Global Pass could be just what you’re looking for. This allows you to Eurail Portugal, cross the border and continue your journey in Spain, all with a single ticket.

Eurail Global Passes can be bought with validity in all 30 participating countries, so you can travel even further if you want to! Create your perfect Eurail itinerary starting with Portugal and/or Spain, and see where you end up!

5 great reasons to Interrail Portugal

Like most of the countries you are likely to visit on your Interrail journey, Portugal uses the Euro. However, it is the only country which speaks Portuguese! Lots of people choose to Interrail Portugal every year, and here are some of the biggest reasons why!

Surfing

Portugal has some of the most spectacular sun-soaked coastlines in the world, which hundreds of thousands of holidaymakers journey to every year. And to make it even more appealing, there are also some fantastic riptides which draw in the surfer crowd. The South-West tip of Portugal is home to a particularly good surfing spot, and there are surf schools too if you are still only a beginner.

Parties

Outside the capital city of Lisbon, most would agree that the best party destination that you will find when you Interrail or Eurail Portugal is Lagos. If that sounds a bit too rowdy for you, there is also Porto, which pairs classic night bars with the cheaper student areas such as Ribeiro – a good place to go if you want to meet some cool people and sink a few cheap drinks.

Boating

If you think Porto is good by night, then you’ll love it by day! One of the most fun and fulfilling things that you can do in this superb city is to take a boat for a peaceful ride along the River Douro – river cruises are always an excellent way to see busy towns and cities without getting distracted by crowds or traffic, and Porto is no exception.

Spain

It almost goes without saying that one of the main reasons that people Eurail or Interrail in Portugal is because it shares its entire Eastern and Northern borders with Spain. That makes Portugal an easy place to visit for anyone who is already travelling in Spain, and many people do indeed decide to end their trip on a high by spending some leisure time on one of Portugal’s superb beaches.

Cities

As with a lot of European cities, the Portuguese tourist hotspots of Porto and Lisbon are absolutely bursting with character and history. There is something new to learn around every corner – Lisbon in particular boasts the ancient Alfama Quarter with its cobbled streets, and the flea market which appears at Campo de Santa Claro every Tuesday and Saturday.

Sagres

Sagres

A great spot for surfing thanks to its opportune location on the South-West point of Portugal, thousands of surfing enthusiasts, from beginners to experts, flock to Sagres every year. There are plenty of surf schools in case you are a little rusty, or even brand new at it, so there’s no excuses not to get out there and ride some waves!

Parque Nacional de Peneda-Gerês

Parque Nacional de Peneda-Gerês

If you feel like getting some exercise while keeping relatively dry, Portugal’s only national park, Parque Nacional de Peneda-Gerês in the north-west, is definitely worth a visit. Here you can try some canyoning, horse riding, canoeing and rafting amongst the unspoilt and very lovely scenery.

Aveiro

Aveiro

Dubbed ‘the Venice of Portugal’, due to its interconnecting network of canals spreading throughout the city with numerous bridges and boats on or above them, Aveiro has to be seen to be believed. Located on the Atlantic coast towards the center of Portugal, as well as lovely beaches Aveiro boasts several historical and cultural sightseeing spots, particularly for those of a religious persuasion.

Coimbra

Coimbra

Nestled comfortably in the center of Portugal on the Mondego River, is the unforgettable, yet sadly often overlooked, city of Coimbra. The place is a beautifully crafted canvas of color, red roofs on white buildings with lush green foliage and gardens scattered around – this is a quintessential Interrail city. The historic and cultural sites are in plentiful supply here, most notably the Gothic Cathedral and the famously beautiful Joanina Library at the University of Coimbra.

Porto

Porto

You may know this area as the producer of the world-famous Port wine (strong stuff!), or alternatively you may know it as the home of FC Porto. Porto is also blessed with a pedestrianised area at the center of the city, named the Ribeira, where the cafes, restaurants and street vendors are constantly abuzz with conversation and live music.
